Harry Truman was the unlikely hero-president who was liked by many but considered by all to be too common and simple of a man to make a real mark in the world. And he kept at the task until it was done. He was a steady-Eddie who got up every morning and took up where he left off the day before. He was self deprecating and genuinely humble, honest, candid to a fault and dedicated to correct wrongs and make the world a better place for those around him. If it were me I would give him a bear hug, let him get me to laugh and tell him that he is my hero. ![]() You will want to tell him how much you appreciate him. It is a massive work, 1120 pages (a 55 hour listen by audio-book), but it is well worth the time! This biography won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize and it is just one of two books written by McCollough that garnered the Pulitzer, the other one being his biography of John Adams.Īs wonderfully crafted as the biography is by McCullough, it is the story of Truman himself that will sweep you off your feet, guaranteed. ![]() ![]() ![]() I just finished reading “Truman” by David McCullough. ![]()
